New Zealand Top Ten Roller Derby Championship 2016

New Zealand Top Ten Roller Derby Championship 2016 - four games, one day, 29 October!

On Saturday 29 October at Kilbirnie Recreation Centre, Richter City Roller Derby (RCRD) will be hosting the finals of the highly anticipated NZ Top Ten Roller Derby Champs. A first of a kind event for RCRD to host, and for NZ Roller Derby!

Teams from the both North and South Islands are coming to Wellington, Richter City's stomping ground, to face off for the top spot. We'll see the Pirate City Rollers - All Scars come from Auckland, and both Dunedin Derby - Gallow Lasses and Dead End Derby - Christchurch Roller Girls come up from the South Island.

You'll get to see four top levels games for the price of one, with the games starting at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm.

This is the inaugural event for NZ Top Ten Roller Derby Champs and its an event that is sure to create a buzz of excitement for fans and skaters - it should be quite an atmosphere for all involved. Garage Project Bar and a variety of other awesome food options will be available at Kilbirnie Rec as always. The Bar (alcohol) will open from 4pm, but snacks will be available before this (alcohol will not be served to minors). There will also be RCRD exclusive merchandise available and a stall featuring goods from one of RCRD’s sponsors, Thunderpants.

RCRD Sponsor, Te Aro Physiotherapy and Pilates, will be on hand for skaters and Wellington Free Ambulance will also be present, for those just-in-case moments, but in the hopes they’re not needed and can just enjoy the event. To ensure the safety of our fans, the first 3 rows of the up-close 'suicide seating', which is right next to the track is restricted to aged 18+ only, but there is plenty of other seating, including tiered seating available as well.

This round-robin championship has seen some great strategy and play, but it all comes down to the final. There’s a lot of seasoned skaters and pro-leadership in these teams, and we can expect to see many of the skaters taking part in the finals to be selected for the to-be-announced Team New Zealand for the Roller Derby World Cup in 2017.

Doors open at 1pm, the games are set to begin at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and the final at 8pm. Exit and re-entry available. Tickets available at:http://www.eventfinda.co.nz/2016/new-zealand-derby-top-10-champs-finals-roller-derby/wellington
