NEW ZEALAND audiences should prepare themselves to experience what will be a triumphant celebration of Elvis Presley™ and his music, in a way that many have never seen before.
Music fans will be totally immersed in the world of Elvis and once again, be captivated by the man who changed the course of popular music, in this world-class concert event.
Elvis Presley is the highest selling solo artist in history (having sold an astonishing one billion records worldwide) and this concert spectacular, The Wonder Of You will feature the most recognisable voice of all time with a full symphony orchestra live on stage performing the King of Rock and Roll’s™ most well-known hit songs and his tender, heart-wrenching ballads.
Following the 2015 release of the chart-topping Sony Music Legacy Recordings album, If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, comes this thrilling announcement.
Elvis: The Wonder of You will feature Elvis Presley on state of the art screens, specially designed for this tour and backed by a full 40 piece symphony orchestra for two New Zealand concerts only in Auckland and Christchurch in July 2017. These two concert dates follow hot on the heels of a sold-out arena tour in the United Kingdom in November 2016 and the recently announced European arena shows in 2017, which are selling fast.
Priscilla Presley commented, "What an honour for us to be able to produce a live concert experience that evolved out of what has become a very prestigious and beloved album backed by a full and rich symphony orchestra.” Actress, producer, author and entrepreneur Priscilla Presley was instrumental in turning Graceland into a world-renowned attraction and Elvis Presley Enterprises into a highly successful entertainment, licensing and merchandising organisation.
To coincide with the tour announcement, Sony Music Entertainment New Zealand will release of The Wonder Of You: Elvis Presley with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, on Friday 21 October 2016. This remarkable new album is the follow up to last year’s huge global phenomenon If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which topped charts worldwide and sold over 1.5 million copies.
The Wonder Of You focuses on the iconic artist’s unmistakable voice with lush new orchestral accompaniment. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London with acclaimed producers Don Reedmanand Nick Patrick, the album features Elvis’ most dramatic original performances augmented with lush new arrangements by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Stand-out tracks include ‘Suspicious Minds’, a sultry new version of the ‘A Big Hunk O’ Love,’ the glorious‘Amazing Grace,’ the heartfelt emotion on ‘Kentucky Rain,’ a stunning new take on the classic ‘Always On My Mind,’ and the fun, upbeat ‘I’ve Got A Think About You Baby.’
