PAUL HENRY CONTINUES STRONG PERFORMANCE & MEDIAWORKS RADIO CELEBRATES MILESTONES
Paul Henry maintained its position against Breakfast, outperforming its competitor in key commercial demographics on a number of mornings last week.
The show’s performance was supported by a notable interview with New Zealand Rugby Union CEO Steve Tew, which was picked up extensively by nationwide and international news outlets.
The interview was matched by a Newshub investigation the same week into the discharge without conviction of a Wellington rugby player.
MediaWorks Radio marks a number of major announcements, with this morning’s launch of The Edge radio host Jay-Jay Harvey’s new book Life on the Edge.
The memoir tells the stories of Jay-Jay’s 22 years at New Zealand's most popular radio station, through a range of ups, downs, stunts and shocks.
More FM Northland also celebrated a significant achievement, with local Northland legend and More FM Breakfast host John Markby marking 30 years on-air in the region. Workmates surprised him with a special on air tribute show, featuring former co-hosts and community figures.
John began at Radio Northland in 1986, where he worked for 13 years, then at More FM for 17 years – 15 of those with current co-host Angela “Flash” Gordon. Markby received the Queen’s Service Medal (QSM) for services to the community and as a broadcaster in 2014, and was honoured with a Services to Broadcasting Award at this year’s NZ Radio Awards.
