World Women’s Team to Travel to France Announced

The Squash New Zealand team to compete at the 2016 Womens World Teams Championship in Paris, France from the 27th November to 3rd December has been announced. The team is Joelle King, Megan Craig, Amanda Landers-Murphy and Emma Millar with Ellie Epke named as the Non-Travelling reserve.

Joelle King the current World Number 11 will head the team in their campaign at this event. This will be King’s fifth World Women’s Team Championship after missing the 2014 Teams event due to her unfortunate Achilles injury in 2014. King has progressed well since this injury and she will be looking to make her mark anchoring the team at number 1.

Megan Craig the current World Ranked Number 55 will use her recent success at the New Zealand Senior National Championships to help her at this event. Craig will represent the New Zealand Women’s Team for the second time after featuring for the first time in 2014.

Amanda Landers-Murphy the current World Ranked Number 72 will be on a high and looking to help take New Zealand to another strong finish after claiming a Gold Medal with Joelle King at the World Doubles Championships. Landers-Murphy will be looking to use her experience from two previous World Women’s Team Championships to drive the team to a strong result.

Emma Millar will make her first debut for a Senior Representative team after last representing New Zealand in 2009 at the World Junior Championships in Chennai India. Millar has worked hard this year raising her ranking to 115 in the world and some strong results in recent PSA events in Australia show she is definitely punching above her ranking and can be expected to pull out results when needed.

The team will travel to Paris, France and will be managed/coached by Shelley Kitchen with the competition taking place in the following venues :

· Palais Des Sports Robert Charpentier, Issy-Les-Moulineaux

· Squash Saint-Cloud, Saint-Cloud

· Jeu De Paume & De Rackets, Paris

We wish the team well in their preparation and their campaign towards this event.
