Call For Applications: Fulbright New Zealand awards
Fulbright New Zealand calls for applications to a range of awards for New Zealand academics, artists, teachers and
professionals to undertake academic and cultural exchanges to the United States of America. A Fulbright exchange
provides life-changing opportunities to gain international experience and advance your career, to explore America, to
share your culture and to make friends and colleagues from around the world. Grantees undertake an exchange to their
choice of leading American universities, which are world renowned for their expertise and resources.
Fulbright New Zealand Scholar Awards are for New Zealand academics, artists or professionals to lecture and/or conduct
research at US institutions. A small number of awards valued at up to US$37,500 are granted each year, towards three to
five months of lecturing and/or research. Applications close 1 October 2016.
The Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Programme is for US academic institutions to host New Zealand (or other foreign)
academics to teach and internationalise their campus, curriculum and communities. Preference is given to institutions
that otherwise have limited opportunities to participate in the Fulbright Scholar Programme. Approximately 45 awards
valued at up to US$26,100 plus travel and allowances are grantedeach year internationally, towards one semester or full
academic year of teaching, curriculum development and campus activities. Applications close 14 October 2016.
New Zealand Harkness Fellowships are for emerging New Zealand leaders in any field of study or vocation (excluding
health care policy and practice) to study or research in the US for between eight and twelve weeks. One New Zealand
Harkness Fellowship worth NZ$30,000 will be offered in 2016 (for travel in 2017), to a person who is currently employed
in a public sector organisation in New Zealand. Applications close 14 October 2016.
The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Programme is for highly accomplished New Zealand teachers in primary or
secondary schooling to participate in an intensive professional development programme in the US. Two awards are granted
each year for this four month programme.Applications close 1 November 2016.
