NZ largest litter clean up is on next week

Thousands of tidy kiwis have rallied together to take part in NZ's largest clean up event which is on next week!

Over 30,000 Tidy Kiwis from every corner of New Zealand have registered so far to join forces to take a stand against litter next week. From scout groups, caravan clubs and day care centres, to corporate businesses, local schools and families every type of group imaginable has stepped forward to help make a difference in their local community.

Clean Up Week is a national litter abatement initiative which was set up and is managed by not-for-profit organisation Keep New Zealand Beautiful. The central aim of the week is for local communities to come together and tackle any litter issues they may have.

Registered groups are planning on cleaning up litter anywhere and everywhere they can find it. Keep New Zealand Beautiful CEO, Heather Saunderson said every bit of help that someone can offer to clean up a local street, park, town, stream or beach helps. "Whether you can spare one hour, two hours or a full day every minute you can offer will make a difference. We really encourage every person living in New Zealand to adopt the Tidy Kiwi philosophy and to get on board to pick up even a few pieces of litter next week."

To make things nice and easy Keep New Zealand Beautiful has clean up kits available free of charge. These great kits include everything you need including rubbish bags, recycling bags, gloves and health and safety guides. They have also partnered with Waste Management and EnviroWaste who have both kindly offered to arrange free rubbish disposal next week if you have registered your event with the Keep NZ Beautiful team.
