Countdown begins to Save Kiwi Month

DIARY NOTE

COUNTDOWN BEGINS TO SAVE KIWI MONTH - 1-31 OCTOBER 2016
Michael Van de Elzen named as ambassador

The official countdown has started to Save Kiwi Month which gets underway on 1 October with a host of nationwide activities.

As part of the month’s events, the national fundraising initiative the Great Kiwi Morning Tea will return for its second year, taking place on Friday 21 October.

Kiwis for kiwi, the national charity that supports community-led kiwi conservation projects, is calling for New Zealanders to get together at school, work, with friends, neighbours or family to share a Kiwi morning tea and collect donations.

This year Kiwis for kiwi welcomes chef and TV personality Michael Van de Elzen as an ambassador.

"I'm excited about being involved in kiwi conservation and The Great Kiwi Morning Tea. I've designed a few recipes, which of course are healthy and ones that anyone can make, even small children and they are deeeeeelicious! I hope lots of schools will get involved, it's a chance to learn about the Kiwi while also creating a fantastic community event in their area," says Van de Elzen.

It’s easy to take part. Just hold a special Kiwi morning tea and ask your guest to make a donation – every little bit counts. Just $100 is enough to save one kiwi by controlling predators across its habitat for an entire year.

Visit www.kiwisforkiwi.org and click on the Great Kiwi Morning Tea icon to register and receive your pack which contains instructions for a successful event, sample invite, promotional materials, recipes and a fun Kiwi Quiz.
