Two exciting new signings announced for Tactix

The Mainland Tactix are pleased to announce two new signings for the 2017 ANZ Netball Elite League; Brooke Leaver and
Temalisi Fakahokotau.
Leaver moves to the Mainland Tactix from South Island neighbours the Southern Steel. Although she only started one game
in 2016 for the Steel, the six-foot netball player made plenty of impact off the bench when called upon and will
undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the Tactix shooting end of the court.
The 22-year-old Bachelor of Sports Science graduate and former New Zealand Secondary Schools shooter, is also an
ambassador for the Shoe Boxx Charity, which provides sports shoes for children and youths who can't afford them.
The charity was founded by Leaver's mother Leonie, a former Silver Fern, who discovered when working in schools many
students did not have the correct footwear for their chosen sport, limiting their ability to be involved.
New Zealand Secondary Schools and former Silver Ferns defender, Temalisi Fakahokotau, makes the move south from the
Northern Mystics to the Tactix. Fakahokotau is a talented player, with good court sense and timing.
At 1.83m tall Fakahokotau will not be the tallest on the court, but her physical presence and aerial ability is
outstanding.
The Tactix have also signed a core group of players from 2016, including NZA players Erikana Pedersen, Jess Moulds and
Zoe Walker, NZ U21 Charlotte Elley and Nicola Mackle and Hayley Saunders.
“What we are seeing is commitment from our players to return to the Tactix in recognition of the culture, support
services and high performance coaching offered here in the Mainland,” Hearn said.
“We are determined to continue to build on the combinations established in 2016 by retaining a core group of players and
new signings, to develop into an even better playing unit for 2017.”
Contracting is on-going and further signings will be announced in the near future.
