Top Seeds Progress to Semi-Finals of New Zealand Senior Nationals

The Quarter-Finals have all wound up with the top seeds all moving through to the Semi-Finals in comfortable style.

In the Women’s Open top seed Megan Craig was too strong for Abbie Palmer defeating her in three. Fourth seed Ellie Epke and fifth seed Danielle Fourie started off with a strong battle with the first game falling Fourie’s way, however Epke stepped it up in the second and never looked back taking the match out in four. Third seed Emma Millar looked too strong for Sacha Pou-Tito who was not able to continue her winning run. Second seed Amanda Landers-Murphy took a strong first game from Joanna Shanks but Shanks stepped it up in the second and claimed a very tight second game to level the score. Shanks proved she was not to be underrated in this match fighting hard in the third but unfortunately it wasn’t enough and Landers-Murphy claimed the match in four.

In the Men’s Open all the matches were completed in three games. Top seed Paul Coll looked too strong for Zac Millar and the same could be said for Campbell Grayson in his game against Michael Sunderland. Old rival Ben Grindrod and Chris Van Der Salm looked set to have a tough five setter in front of them but Grindrod showed his strength in the match to claim it in three. The final match of the Quarter finals saw Lance Beddoes take a win from Oliver Johnston in three.
