Richter City Roller Derby - Double Header, 3rd September '16
Press Release: Wellington's Richter City Roller Derby - Double Header, 3rd September 2016
3 September Richter
City Roller Derby Double Header at Kilbirnie Recreation
Centre!
On September 3, Richter City (RCRD) will host two public games in one event. The first game will be between RCRD's All Stars, and Auckland Roller Derby League (ARDL) as part of the New Zealand Top Ten Roller Derby Champs round robin tournament - RCRD holds the #1 spot as NZ's highest ranking roller derby team and will be hoping to maintain that spot against other national teams throughout this tournament and 2016.
The second game at 7pm will be RCRD's third home season game of 2016 between the black & leopard print themed Smash Malice and the comic book super heroes Comic Slams. Comic Slams came out with a 106 point victory in their last game against Brutal Pageant; whereas Smash Malice were defeated earlier this year by Brutal Pageant but with only a handful of points between them. This will be a nail biter through to the last jam!
The results of this game will decide which teams will be in the highly anticipated final on September 24.
Richter City has also been busy training up some new recruits on the 2nd Freshmeat course of 2016. This course is great way to introduce yourself to the rules of derby and learn the necessary skills - it also leads on to full membership in the league and the chance to play and learn with RCRD. Keep an eye out for upcoming Freshmeat courses and opportunities to get involved with Richter City (in a skating or non skating capacity) on our website http://www.richtercity.co.nz/ or email: freshmeat.richtercity@gmail.com
A reminder that the first 3 rows of the up-close 'suicide seating' right next to the track are aged 18+, but there is tiered seating available as well.
Doors open at 4pm, the first game starts at 5pm
with the Smash Malice vs Comic Slams game starting at 7pm
– tickets available at: http://www.eventfinda.co.nz/2016/roller-derby-double-header-rcrd-vs-ardl/wellington.
