Short+Sweet Festival Returns to Auckland for 2017 with 10 Minute Dance and Theatre Performances
Short+Sweet Festival Auckland 2016 10 minutes to make a statement, 10 minutes to connect, 10 minutes with Short+Sweet Festival Auckland.
The Short+Sweet Festival is back in Auckland with its successful 10 minute performance format, showcasing Theatre and Dance sections over 3 weeks.
Short+Sweet Festival Auckland features 63 new Theatre and Dance works, and takes place at TAPAC (The Auckland Performing Arts Centre) from 30 August - 18 September.
The eclectic brainchild originally out of Sydney’s performing arts scene has catapulted to great success with satellite city festivals across the world, including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Philippines, UAE and USA.
The Festival has been running every year in Auckland since 2009. Short+Sweet features short, but perfectly formed 10-minute works. This year, the lineup covers a range of genres and styles, and includes musical theatre works and two Wildcard programmes.
Short+Sweet’s Artistic Curator for Theatre Ahi Karunaharan notes that Short+Sweet has plenty of appeal because of its unique 10-minute performance format, which allows participants to make a huge amount of impact: “These aren’t excerpts of a show – they’re like short films, with each 10-minute piece a complete work brought together by Short+Sweet, and the next one more different and exciting than the next- Short+Sweet is a collaboration of styles and subjects that make for a wonderful night!”
