Comedy is very serious for NZ Comedy Trust GM

Comedy is very serious for new New Zealand Comedy Trust General Manager

It is with great pleasure and lots of excitement that the New Zealand Comedy Trust welcomesGeoff Turkington to the position of General Manager. Geoff has agreed to take the reins from the wonderful Kylie Sealy, who has led the Comedy Trust team with such skill and enthusiasm for the last eight years.

Geoff comes from a four year stretch managing premium live performance venues in Newcastle, Australia. He was instrumental in making the Civic Theatre in Newcastle one of Australia’s most successful live performance venues.

Geoff comments, "it is an honour to be offered the opportunity to return home and be part of the fantastic team whose sole purpose is to deliver laughter to the people of New Zealand. I am very much looking forward to working with the Trust to build on the incredible work done to date by Kylie and the team, to ensure New Zealand's unique comedy industry continues to be supported and showcased to as many people as possible."

New Zealand Comedy Trust Board Chair Carole Pedder said, “Geoff’s wealth of experience and skills in live performance will take the New Zealand Comedy Trust and the NZ International Comedy Festival to the next level. We’re looking forward to providing even more support and outlets for New Zealand’s fantastic comedy community and our ever supportive audiences.”

Geoff begins his role on Monday 1 August, and the next NZ International Comedy Festival will run from 28 April to 21 May 2017.
