Pure Specular, requires no speculation

Lora Wallace
Pure Specular, requires no speculation

Kapiti Artist Lora Wallace, third year Whitireia visual arts student, is proud to present her debut solo exhibition,
Opening night July 29, 6pm 17 Tory st Wellington.

Lora's paintings reflect inspiration from Abstract Expressionism which she fuses within a contemporary context.

The subject matter questions the conflict between global entropy and the pure natural world, a juxtaposition we so often are confronted with in the world around us. The viewer is encouraged to visually participate in each work which reveals moments of stillness within the energetic surface of colour and mark-making.

The Artist belongs to an emerging generation of artists, those who practice a new expressionism, combining the abstract and figurative in a contemporary art discipline. The body of work has developed from an experimental period and as such it displays a playfulness in both materials and processes. Keenly aware of and affected by her surroundings Lora responds by making spontaneous and intuitive work.
