Auckland serves up a month to dine for
Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) is letting Cantabrians and Wellingtonians know that Auckland is once again serving up a month to dine for in August.
Building on the success of last year’s marketing campaign for Auckland Restaurant Month, ATEED is extending the marketing reach of Heart of the City’s (HoTC) annual culinary event, tempting the taste buds of those in Christchurch and Wellington.
Auckland’s biggest dining event is held over the entire month of August with a jam packed schedule including top international chef evenings, a ‘Cheese Lover’s Feast’ and the sustainably minded ‘Nothing for Dinner’ event, on top of the 100-plus dinning offers and menus at more than 100 restaurants.
ATEED Head of Tourism, Jason Hill, says events such as Restaurant Month continue to showcase Auckland’s strength as a food and wine destination.
“Winter has traditionally been a quieter time for Auckland’s restaurants, and thanks to the introduction of Heart of the City’s Restaurant Month six years ago, they’ve created a compelling reason to get more people out and about.
“ATEED’s involvement has meant we can expand the presence of Restaurant Month to entice more visitors from our key fly markets.
“Last year’s campaign was a huge success. We saw domestic spend at participating restaurants from the markets ATEED targeted grow 86%,” he says.
Campaign activity has already commenced in Christchurch and Wellington and includes magazine and newspaper ads, advertorials, ad-shells, billboards, and in-airport screens and Koru Lounge screens in both cities.
Mobile ads that have the ability to geo-target people in Wellington and Christchurch airport domestic terminals are also being used to get the message in front of the target audience.
‘Foodie’ influencers will also be promoting the month, including Concrete Jungle, Gather & Hunt, Delaney Mes and Eat Here Now.
Auckland’s diverse food event scene is thriving, hosting events galore this year. Other successful Auckland food events being held in Auckland this year include The Auckland Food Show, GABS Beer, Cider & Food Fest and Taste of Auckland.
