Ahmadiyya Muslim Community celebrates Eid ul Fitr
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community New Zealand will be
celebrating Eid-ul Fitr tomorrow Wednesday 06th July, a
special day of celebrations after the conclusion of their
holy month of Ramadhan (fasting). Muslim’s around the
world will be celebrating this special day with families,
neighbours and friends. The community will be conducting the
Eid ul Fitr prayers at Baitul Muqeet Mosque, 20 Dalgety
Drive, Manukau at 9.00 am.
To mark this festive day, Mr Bashir Khan, National President of the Community said, “On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of New Zealand, I would like to extend my heartiest Eid greetings to all Muslims and fellow New Zealanders on this special day. May you all celebrate this blessed day in the true spirit as was taught by the Holy Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace be upon him)”.
The Eid ul Fitr is a special day in our lives where we rejoice the completion of exercising self-discipline of having successfully complied with the commandment of God to observe the fasts. Not only that but on account of a feeling of spiritual exhilaration which glows within the heart and soul. Eid-ul-Fitr should remind one of many lessons learned from fasting and which, during the holy month of Ramadan, one should have endeavoured to keep in mind and to have practised. It is a day where Muslims should reflect on their condition of spiritual improvement and resolve not to lose what they have gained and to press forward to even higher spiritual development through righteous conduct, prayers and seeking the Grace of God.
“In order to share the Eid celebrations with the less-fortunate ones, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community New Zealand in line with their tradition worldwide have been distributing food parcels to the less privileged section of the society during the holy month of Ramadan, each containing enough dry food to meet the needs of a deserving family for few days”, said Mr. Khan.
The
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast-growing
international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889
by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) in Punjab, India,
the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans over 206 countries with
membership exceeding tens of millions. The New Zealand
branch of this community was established in 1987 and has
just over 450 members. It is a registered charitable
organisation and endeavours to be an active and integrated
community within New Zealand society.
