Mose Auimatagi wins major upset
Twenty one year old, Mose Auimatagi wins by split decision against veteran Gunnar Jackson, Capturing the Vacant UBF Asia Pacific title and his second New Zealand Title.
Auimatagi has now become the third person to unify the NZNBF and NZPBA New Zealand National titles. Auimatagi is also the first person to win the new UBF Asia Pacific title. Due to this victory, Auimatagi will likely be ranked in the top 20 of the UBF rankings and the top 15 of the WBO Asia Pacific rankings.
Auimatagi record now improves to four wins, one lose, two draws, which is considered a major upset winning against someone who has had 35 fights with 21 wins. The fight itself was a very close fight, with judges scoring 96 - 96, 95 - 96, 94 - 97.
The fight card showed a very rare no knockout night. The co Main event of the night saw Bronze Medalist of 2010 commonwealth games Junior Fa defeating Junior Pati. The undercard also featured David “Brown Buttabean” Letele defeating George Hola, Panuve Helu defeating Joshua Tai, New Zealand Champion Ricky Murphy defeating Blake Bell and many more exciting fights.
