Jackson vs Auimatagi gets Title Upgrade
Gunnar Jackson vs Mose Auimatagi Jnr fight will be getting a Title upgrade. The vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) Asia Pacific middleweight title will be add into the mix, alongside Jackson defending his NZPBA title.
The bout was originally scheduled for Gunnar Jackson defending his NZPBA title against NZNBF Champion Jordan Tai, however Tai got injured and Auimatagi stepped up.
The UBF Asia Pacific title is a relatively new title that was created to help expand UBF into the Asia Pacific region. The title itself has been personalised instead of a generic title, making it more unique.
29 year old Gunnar Jackson, is a two time NZPBA Champion, former WBA PABA Champion and a two time WBO Oriental Champion. Jackson has ranked as high as 11th in the WBO and has fought all across New Zealand, Australia and USA. Jackson has been in the ring with many greats including Former World Champion Anthony Mundine, Gold Medalist Ryota Murata, Former WBA PABA Champion Adrian Taihia and Kerry Hope. Jackson is the favourite going into this bout.
21 year old Mose Auimatagi Jnr, is the current NZNBF Champion. Auimatagi Debuted in 2014 as a professional at the young age of 19. Auimatagi biggest win of his career was against undefeated boxer Reagan Dessaix in Australia. Auimatagi is looking to not only gain his second title but also to gain his first regional title.
The card will also feature Commonwealth games medalist Junior fa vs Junior Pati, Panuve Helu vs Josh Tai, Ricky Murphy vs Blake Bell, and more. The fight night will be taking place at ASB Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand and will be televised free to air on TV 3.
