Pasifika Futures pleased about additional funding for Whānau Ora

Pasifika Futures welcomes the additional funding recently announced by the government in the Budget 2016 to further support Whānau Ora work.

“We are pleased about the budget announcement of more funding into Whānau Ora programme,” says Pasifika Futures Chairman, Dr Kiki Maoate.

“We will look at our funding model more closely and reassess and identify new programmes and services to empower our families and communities to achieve Whānau Ora outcomes.”

“The announcement has enabled us to continue our work to find new and innovative ways to provide services and support for vulnerable families and we acknowledge the commitment by the Ministers in their efforts to support Whānau Ora and identify opportunities that best meet the ongoing needs of our families seeking help.”

Pasifika Futures Chief Executive Mrs Debbie Sorensen says Pasifika Futures will extend the existing depth and breadth of its work to service more families who are in great need.

“We are delighted to have more funding to support more programmes. We recognise the amazing work Whānau Ora facilitates in the community and we will utilise the budget allocation as best we can to extend our services.”

“This shows a significant vote of confidence in the commissioning agencies work and our approach to Whānau Ora work and we look forward to continue working with Te Pou Matakana and Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu and other key stakeholders in empowering our families and communities to achieve Whānau Ora outcomes.”
