Weird Tales of Midwinter: A spooky journey through the winter night

Due to popular demand, NO Productions Theatre Collective presents a new season of immersive Victorian and Edwardian ghost stories, Weird Tales of Midwinter, to be performed on 16-19 June in The Lodge at Ferrymead Heritage Park from 8pm.

The show is inspired by classic stories of the supernatural, presenting the audience with two thrilling tales of the genre: ‘Carmilla’ and ‘The Sandman.’ Weird Tales offers a unique theatrical experience and an excellent opportunity to celebrate the season in style, dispelling the gloom of the Christchurch winter... and adding more mystery and thrill to it!

This immersive theatrical experience will include a pre-show ghost walk around the grounds of the Edwardian township under the guidance of the urbane yet sinister Dr. Coppelius (Michael Adams). Participants will need to be dressed for an adventure, not for a standard night at the theatre! Sensible shoes and a raincoat would help - who knows what's lurking on a cold winter night...

Written and produced by Ukrainian-born theatre maker Nataliya Oryshchuk, the show will also star audience favourites Michael Adams, David Allen, Yvette Bensemann and Jonathan Briden, with the soundscape by Charlotte Crone.

“Ferrymead Heritage Park is a perfect location for a good old ghost story; add to it a dark winter night with its mysterious shadows, and you get a perfect backdrop for a theatre show!” – says the producer, writer and actress Nataliya Oryshchuk – “With ongoing support from Christchurch audiences and the Creative Communities Scheme, this is our third season of site-specific tales of the supernatural at Ferrymead. We keep it fresh and full of surprises - expect some weird and wonderful things to happen”.

Each night audience numbers will be strictly limited to 30, and the tickets will be offered for pre-sale only. The ticket price includes light refreshments that will be served during the interval. Duration is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.

Due to the nature of the show, PG 13 is recommended.
Tickets: $35 waged/$30 unwaged.
