Final Chance for WINETOPIA as Tickets Near to Selling Out
It is set to be a bumper vintage for visitors to WINETOPIA presented by Singapore Airlines with tickets to the two day event close to selling out.
With hundreds of great wines to try and a stunning menu of informative Masterclasses, workshops, food and entertainmnent, the inaugural WINETOPIA presented by Singapore Airlines (May 20th and 21st at Shed 10) has clearly caught the imagination of Aucklanders.
“We’re blown away by the excitement and interest about this new event and can’t wait to pull those corks and pour the first tastes on May 20th,” says event director Claire Baudinet.
“The Masterclasses have been enormously popular, so clearly there is a well educated audience of wine lovers planning to take full advantage of the event, as well as those who’d just love to taste and enjoy the energy,” she said.
There is no shortage of talent at the event, with big names Bob Campbell (MW) and Australian sommelier Nick Stock leading the charge, supported by some of New Zealand’s best and brightest talent including Martina Lutz (Wine Chambers),Meg Abbott-Walker (MASU), Amanda Richards (Bracu/Allechante) and Ganesh Raj (The Tasting Shed).
Or for a lighter angle on wine, WINETOPIA presented by Singapore Airlinesintroduces the ‘Share a Glass’ sessions, where comedian Bendhan Lovegrovechats with some great Kiwi celebs about their journeys with wine, including musician P Digsss from Shapeshifter, Russell Brown, Verity Johnson, Shane Cortese and Singapore Airlines traveller Colin Mathura-Jeffree.
The wines themselves range from the grapes we know and love, vinted traditionally or with a wild twist, through to the weird and wonderful varietals you won’t have tasted before. Examples include Herons Flight wine made from Sangiovese entirely in a 500L clayamphora; the stunning Craggy Range Sophia Bordeaux Blend (98 Points by Bob Campbell), or Clearview Estate’s Basket Press 2013, only produced from the very best grapes hand selected during an exceptional season.
Villa Maria’s latest sensation is a must see also, the Villa Maria Cellar Selection Gisborne Albariño 2014 won the Pure Gold Award at the Air NZ Wine Awards in the “White Wines: Other Varieties” category.
And it is not just wine on show! Great wine deserves good company and theWINETOPIA presented by Singapore Airlines brings stunning wine-matched cuisine by the likes of Chef Mark Southon of O’Connell Street Bistro in collaboration with Freedom Farms pork, Akemi Gyoza’s Japanese Dumplings, stunning Mahurangi Oysters, snapper, salmon and venison from Wild Foods, delicacies from Salash Delicatessen and Food Snob! Bennetts of Mangawhaidelights with a selection of their finest chocolates.
Hopetoun Brown seals the deal with toe-tapping, funkadelic music to end each session in style (make sure bring your dancing shoes).
Wine lovers are urged to get in quick. Online tickets start from just $30 and include entry to one session, your first 5 tastings, wine glass + free talks & entertainment. Door sales will be $40 if available.
