TV3 Announces The Return Of The Block NZ
Block-a-holics can rejoice as the top-rating series The Block NZgears up for its fifth season, coming soon to TV3.
Four teams will face off against each other in the biggest Block transformation to date – 1980s townhouses. Possibly the ugliest homes the teams have ever started off with on The Block NZ, they will be transformed into the most environmentally friendly, energy efficient and sustainable houses the contestants have ever been tasked with.
Mark Richardson will continue his role as host of The Block NZ for the fifth year and will be joined once again by challenge host Shelley Ferguson.
Host of The Block NZ since season one, Mark has seen the format change and grow and is excited about the challenges that this year’s teams face:
“Every year The Block NZ competitors face what feels like insurmountable challenges, and 2016 will be no exception. These town houses are from 1987 and patched together with old fashioned brick and plaster render. They’ll need to be stripped back to the bare bones and completely reimagined to make them desirable in today’s competitive market.”
Peter ‘The Wolf’ Wolfkamp also returns to his post as site foreman, and with decades of professional renovation experience under his belt, he has a gentle warning for the teams:
“These houses are not from the Golden Age of NZ building practice. This year we face a huge challenge to rectify these homes, and we have also decided to create homes that are more sustainable, more energy efficient and more complex than anything we have attempted before. Let’s hope the teams are up to the task.”
MediaWorks is pleased to announce a great family of new and returning sponsors for The Block NZ. AMP is proud to be on board as broadcast sponsor, supporting their second season of The Block NZ, along with returning programme partners Bosch Power Tools, Freedom, Haier, Honda, Mico Bathrooms, Peter Hay Kitchens, Pita Pit and new programme partners Central Heating New Zealand and Resene.
Alana O’Neill, MediaWorks Head of Integration says:
“The Block NZ is in its fifth season and continues to offer outstanding opportunities for branded content integration. We are thrilled to have such a great line up of new and returning sponsor partners with us for what promises to be another ground breaking series of The Block NZ. Last season The Block NZ: Villa Wars delivered more than 2.6 million viewers over the series and the 3NOW on demand videos notched up over 808,000 streams. Every year The Block NZ proves it is the ultimate DIY reality format.”
The teams who will compete in the fifth season of The Block NZ will be announced soon.
The Block NZ is produced by Warner Bros. New Zealand for TV3.
