Lower Hutt Car Dealer Sponsors NZ Art Show Art Award
Lower Hutt Car Dealership Brendan Foot Supersite announced this week that it is sponsoring the NZ Art Show’s principal
award, the Signature Piece Art Award. The award, now called the Brendan Foot Supersite Signature Piece Art Award, is a cash prize of $3,000 awarded to the best artwork in the NZ Art Show as chosen by the attendees at the show. This
year’s show is being held at the TSB Bank Arena over Queen’s birthday weekend from June 3rd to June 6th.
David Foot, representing the successful Brendan Foot Supersite dealership, made the announcement to 200 Friends and
sponsors at the launch of the 2016 NZ Art Show held at Wellington’s Prefab Hall on Wednesday May 4th.
David Foot is a director in the Brendan Foot Supersite dealership and the son of the company’s founder, Brendan Foot.
‘Our support for the NZ art show has been driven by my father Brendan who has been a passionate supporter of the event
for a number of years now,’ says David.
Carla Russell, the Executive Director of the NZ Art Show, says that this show of support from a long-term sponsor is a
testament of the company’s focus on community.
‘Brendan Foot Supersite has demonstrated their community spirit by sponsoring numerous public organisations and events
including the Central Pulse and Wellington Phoenix. Their support of the NZ Art Show dates back to 2009, and now they
have extended the scope of their support by funding the award; this is a true mark of their commitment to the arts
community,’ says Carla.
In addition to sponsoring the award, Brendan Foot Supersite is providing two new vehicles for use around the show period
and they are sponsoring a competition with two $500 art vouchers as prizes.
In terms of the award, just prior to the show’s opening, a team of judges selects ten finalists from all the artworks
presented for the show. They are displayed in a dedicated gallery at the show and over the course of the weekend all
attendees can vote for their favourite.
The award has been running since 2009 and aims to recognise artistic excellence in the visual arts; highlight the work
of promising artists for the future; encourage, develop and promote emerging artists to new artistic levels; and give
the public the opportunity to choose the winning artist.
Previous winners have included Mandy Emerson, Steve Thomson, Ben Timmins, Catherine Roberts and Matt Guild.
