Plenty for kids of all ages at Scale Models Expo in Wellington.
Laura Vale aged 9 concentrates on finishing her robot model for Scale Models Expo
The best scale modellers from around New Zealand flock to Wellington as the country's largest scale model show comes to
Upper Hutt over the weekend of 23-24 April.
Event organiser Grant Matchett says there will be lots for children of all ages to see and do at the expo.
“It’s not just about a static display, we want to ensure everyone can get involved in the great hobby that is scale
modelling. To that end we're giving away free Airfix kits to kids and they will be able to build them at the show.” said
Grant.
“There will be hundreds of scale models of the latest jets, historic fighter planes, heavy haul trucks, giant robots,
armoured vehicles, spacecraft, classic racing cars and many more.
“While the best modellers in the country vie for their share of the awards & prizes on offer there will be plenty to keep everyone interested.
“We’ve been running the Expo in Wellington since 2001 and it has now attracted an international reputation. Sir Peter
Jackson’s World War One model aircraft company Wingnut Wings will be in attendance and premièring a new model prototype
they are going to release later this year. Lucky show attendees will be the first people on the planet to see it” said
Grant Matchett.
