The Fifth Annual Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival Coming Soon!
The fifth annual Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival is coming to a city near you. This year’s line-up will showcase the most acclaimed and current films in architecture and design, including documentaries on iconic architects, design trailblazers, fearless visionaries and living cities.
Rialto Cinemas and Clearly & Co are pleased to announce that the festival will play nationwide in four locations:
• AUCKLAND (Rialto Cinemas Newmarket): 5-18 May
• WELLINGTON (Embassy Theatre): 26 May – 12 June
• DUNEDIN (Rialto Cinemas): 16–26 June
• CHRISTCHURCH (Academy Gold): 30 June – 13 July
Tickets for the festival are on sale now.
Rialto Cinemas has again partnered with Clearly & Co, who have curated the spectacular films for this year’s line-up. Curators Tracey Lee and Clare Buchanan say, “It is a pivotal time in New Zealand as urban development and renewal reshape our architectural landscape. We hope this collection of films stimulates the imagination and provokes dialogue about the possibilities of architecture and design innovation in our lives.”
The festival films have been grouped into themes, so audiences can navigate towards stories they are most curious about. “We have brought together 19 films from all over the world. This year we have Concrete Love (featuring sublime Brutalism, Brazil and Bauhaus); Experiments at Water’s Edge; extraordinary and eccentric Design Trailblazers; and Living Cities, considering how we are navigating the challenges of creating sustainable cities.”
Rialto Cinemas Group Manager Kathryn Bennett says that she is delighted that the festival is returning for 2016, “We are celebrating that the festival is entering its fifth year. It’s great to have another year of strong content and the continued support of the industry, filmmakers, sponsors and the public who all help bring the festival to fruition on an annual basis.”
Naming rights sponsor Resene Marketing Manager Karen Warman says Resene is once again delighted to be bringing the festival to New Zealand with Rialto Cinemas. “Resene is delighted to be able to help share inspiring and creative architecture and design films with the return of the Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival for its fifth year. With an eclectic mix of films, designers and directors, festival goers can immerse themselves in architecture and design. Every year we hear from festival goers who have enjoyed a collection of festival films and are counting down to the next one.
This year’s festival gold partners are HOME and Left Field wines and the silver partner is Citta Design.
This festival is the second largest architecture and design film festival in the world.
