The Mondiale Auckland Aces have made one change
to their squad to face the Central Stags in the final round
of the Plunket Shield.
Auckland were confirmed as Plunket Shield champions after the completion of the last round and will be looking to finish the season unbeaten in Napier. Michael Bates will once again lead the side with Rob Nicol still recovering from injury. Mark Chapman isn’t available for selection this round due to university exams and is replaced in the squad by Auckland A and Takapuna player Elliot Herd. If selected in the playing XI it will be Herd’s debut for the Mondiale Aces. The Takapuna spinner is fresh off helping his side win the Auckland Premier Two Day Competition.
Mondiale Aces coach Mark O’Donnell says there's a great feeling in the squad after securing the Plunket Shield with a round to go.
“It is a tremendous effort from the team but we certainly aren’t getting ahead of ourselves. We are very proud of our unbeaten record and the squad are exceptionally keen to finish the season on a high note.”
“I have been very proud of the way a range of individuals have stood up across the season to help get results and we will need more of those kinds of performances against Central Districts.”
“We know they have quality players who will want to finish well and we can’t take anything lightly.”
