NZ winner revealed for the world's biggest photography comp

New Zealand National Award winner revealed for the world's biggest photography competition
- the 2016 Sony World Photography Awards

• Best single image taken by a photographer from New Zealand in the 2016 Sony World Photogrpahy Awards
• Winning image exhibited at Somerset House, London, 22nd April – 8th May
• Images available for publication at press.worldphoto.org

London, 15th March 2016: Kiwi photographer Miriam Strong is today named as the winner of New Zealand National Award, part of world’s biggest photography competition, the Sony World Photography Awards.

Strong‘s winning image, “New Hights”, was chosen as the single best photograph taken by a photographer from New Zealand entered into any of the awards’ ten Open categories.

Strong, a young freelance photographer currently based in London (UK), has won a Sony a6000. In addition, the winning image will be part of the 2016 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London from 22nd April - 8th May and will be published in the annual Sony World Photography Awards book.

Runner up positions for New Zealand National Award were given to:
• 2nd place - Levana Sietses for her image titled ‘Lioness’
• 3rd place - Peter Kurdulija for his image titled ‘They were here, I was there’
The National Awards programme honours and rewards the best single image taken by a local photographer and runs in 60 countries across the world from Argentina to Australia. It is open to photographers of all abilities.
