Laird Hamilton - King of the Watermen to Visit New Zealand
Arguably one of the world’s best athletes and the ultimate waterman himself, Laird Hamilton will visit New Zealand from 18-20 March to support The Ultimate Waterman multi-discipline surf competition.
Laird Hamilton of Hawaii is the ideal ambassador for the event, the epitome of what most people would consider to be an Ultimate Waterman. He has a fearless approach to innovation and is known as the primary influence behind many surfing innovations, including tow-in surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, and hydrofoil boarding.
While in NZ, Laird will be making media appearances and doing interviews for The Ultimate Waterman documentary, which is being produced for Red Bull TV by New Zealand production house AJS Films.
The public will be able to hear him speak at “Laird X” at The Ultimate Waterman event hub on Saturday 19th March from 12.30pm-1.00pm. Laird will take part in a live Q and A session covering topics ranging from his philosophy on fitness, his career and tips on how to get started in SUP or Surfing. The public will also get the opportunity to ask him questions and get his autograph.
Laird will also be at The Ultimate Waterman final competition event – the SUP Endurance Race – on Sunday 20th March for the whole day. He will present the trophy to the 2016 Ultimate Waterman and be available for an autograph and selfie session.
Laird will also watch the brand new discipline take place - the Underwater Strength Run and Swim – happening on Saturday 19th March at 6pm. He is sure to have a special interest in this event having developed his own underwater training program called Laird XPT (Extreme Performance Training).
