Mondiale Auckland Aces named for top of the table Plunket Shield clash

The Mondiale Auckland Aces have made one change to their squad to face the Wellington Firebirds from tomorrow at Colin Maiden Park.

Rob Nicol will lead a side that took a convincing win last round against Canterbury. The only change to the squad coming with Auckland A and Suburbs New Lynn allrounder Michael Barry replacing Sean Solia in the 12. Barry last played first-class cricket in 2013 and also made his debut against Wellington. The talented allrounder has featured in List A cricket for the Mondiale Aces this season.

Bowlers Lockie Ferguson and Matthew Quinn both remain on the injured list for the Mondiale Aces.

Mondiale Aces coach Mark O'Donnell says his side are excited to take on a front running Wellington side.

“Wellington bring a lot of experience to their Plunket Shield cricket. They have shown already this season they are tough customers in this format. We will need to be on top of our game to challenge them."

"There is a good feeling in our group at the moment and the boys are very eager to make sure that continues. Colin Maiden poses different challenges to Eden Park Outer Oval and we have planned for that this week."

A team for tomorrow's game will be named from the following 12 players:

Rob Nicol (c) (Cornwall)
Michael Barry (Suburbs New Lynn)
Michael Bates (Suburbs New Lynn)
Brad Cachopa (Takapuna)
