SKYCITY proud to retain Rainbow Tick and support Auckland’s Pride Festival
SKYCITY Auckland is pleased to again support the annual Pride Festival, with the Sky Tower boasting a dynamic rising rainbow light display.
SKYCITY Auckland’s continued support of the Festival follows the company receiving Rainbow Tick accreditation for another year. The company was one of the first organisations in New Zealand to receive the Rainbow Tick, reflecting the support it provides for its Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Takatapui, Intersex (LGBTTI) community, and the value it places on diversity in the workplace.
Tonight and tomorrow night the Sky Tower will be lit to mark the beginning of the Auckland Pride Festival, and again on 20 February in support of the Pride Parade. On these three evenings, bands of colour will rise up the top section of the Sky Tower.
SKYCITY Auckland is also proud to be the naming rights sponsor of the badminton and touch tournaments at the inaugural Proud to Play Games, being held from 13 - 22 February across Auckland.
SKYCITY General Manager Corporate Services Gráinne Troute says SKYCITY is pleased to support the Pride Festival and to be Rainbow Tick accredited for another year.
“SKYCITY places great value on having a team that reflects the diverse community we live in and the customers we welcome every day. We place great emphasis on fostering an inclusive workplace culture internally as well as supporting it externally.
“Operating such a large and varied business, it’s wonderful to have team members that bring different skills, experience, personalities and perspectives, but who are also genuinely the very best candidate for that role,” says Ms Troute.
The Rainbow Tick is considered a benchmark of valuing diversity. SKYCITY Auckland has developed a variety of services and initiatives to support all of its 3,600 staff, including people identifying as LGBTTI to ensure all employees have fair and equal opportunities and an enjoyable working environment.
The Rainbow Tick programme is designed to help an organisation ensure it is a safe and welcoming workplace for employees from the LGBTTI community. The annual auditing process examines company policy, training, engagement and organisational support, external engagement and ongoing monitoring.
SKYCITY also proudly supports
organisations like OUTline, Rainbow Youth and the New
Zealand AIDS Foundation through the SKYCITY Auckland
Community
Trust.
