Bullet Heart Club to release: Daffodils – The Lips Remixes EP
Tuesday, 2 February 2016
The team behind the hugely successful stage show Daffodils [Inspired by true events] release their first EP recording ahead of a return season this February at Auckland’s Q Theatre.
Based on the arrangements from the original stage show, LIPS, Abraham Kunin and the cast (Colleen Davis and Todd Emerson) have recorded six special tracks that will feature on the DAFFODILS EP. Recorded in studios throughout 2015 between Auckland and Tucson, Stephanie Brown and Fen Ikner have taken the show’s signature sound further by adding a unique LIPS flavour. Pulsing with electronic-indie synths, guitar and percussion, the LIPS remixes honours the original songwriters while bringing something new. From a minimalist synth-pop version of The Exponents I’LL SAY GOODBYE (EVEN THOUGH I’M BLUE) to a distorted dreamlike version of Bic Runga’s DRIVE.
“Since the premiere of Daffodils in 2014, we’ve received regular requests from audiences for a recording of the show’s songs. We are excited to finally be able to offer this EP.” - Kitan Petkovski, Bullet Heart Club
The indie-rock cabaret is written by Rochelle Bright and features iconic New Zealand hits, arranged by Silver Scroll winner LIPS (Stephanie Brown and Fen Ikner), with Abraham Kunin.
The EP will be launched during the return of the stage production of Daffodils at Q Theatre, 14-20 February 2016. Tickets are available from www.qtheatre.co.nz/daffodils-2016 or 09 309 9771.
