Netball Mainland appoint new Performance Development Manager

Netball Mainland has announced the appointment of Jennie Hooper as their new Performance Development manager for the
Zone.
Hooper has over 30 years extensive coaching and umpiring experience – including coaching Canterbury and Tasman national
provincial teams, and assistant coach of the “Flames” in the former national league from 2005-2006. Hooper will be
charged with leading, developing and implementing performance development and high performance programmes for players,
coaches and umpires.
Hooper, who hails from Lyttelton in Christchurch, will work across the Mainland Zone – which includes 18 affiliated
Netball Centres – and takes over the role from incumbent Leigh Gibbs who moved to Australia to work with Netball
Queensland.
“I am delighted to take up the role,” she said. “It’s about ensuring that the appropriate performance pathways are in
place to support the most talented netballers, coaches and umpires the Mainland Zone to progress and succeed at the
elite level.”
Hooper is currently the Coach Development manager for Netball Mainland having previously been employed by Netball New
Zealand (NNZ) as part of the CoachForce team.
Netball Mainland CEO Brigit Hearn said she was delighted to have Hooper move into the role of Performance Development
manager.
“She has extensive skills and experience and we look forward to Jen leading our development programmes,” Hearn said.
Hooper will start her new role on Monday, 8 February.
