BILLY T NOMINEE SOLO SHOWS – 2016 NZ INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL
ALICE BRINE goes ‘hundy’ from the get-go and takes us on a ride on the observational freight train through her elaborate and intricate mind.
Software Analyst at Xero by day and comedian by night, Alice was recently handpicked to be the support act for Anchorman’s David Koechner, and won the award for Break-out Performer at the 2015 Wellington Comedy Awards.
DAVID CORREOS will showcase the best of the best, from all the failures in his life, with his trademark high energy and unpredictable performance.
David is an almost-famous YouTube sensation for his Miley Cyrus costume tutorial, was in the Grand Final of the Raw Comedy Quest, was a finalist in the 7 Days Comedy Apprentice, and nominated for Best Newcomer with his first solo Comedy Fest show in 2015.
JAMES MALCOLM is obsessed with Chris Warner from Shortland Street and he’s using the Comedy Fest as the perfect opportunity to publicly declare his feelings for ‘Doctor Love’.
James took part in the New Zealand Comedy Trust’s free high-school programme, Class Comedians, before winning the national Raw Comedy Quest in 2014.
LAURA DANIEL throws together stand-up, sketch, characters, song and confetti into a pressure cooker, creating a spectacle that will make you yell “yasss bitch” to the sky.
Writing and starring on TV3’s Jono and Ben and Funny Girls, Laura is also a core cast member in improv comedy group Snort, and the voice for cartoon character ‘Riley’ in the new animated series The Barefoot Bandits.
MATT STELLINGWERF presents Bachelor of Arts; exploring the sordid lives of Olympians, the U.S constitution, Shakespeare’s influence on Sexting, and how Einstein predicted the break-up of One Direction.
A farmer’s son and trained criminologist, Matt has won four Comedy Guild Awards, was nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2014 NZ International Comedy Festival and was also a Billy T Award nominee in 2015.
