Auckland Rugby League announce new Director
Auckland Rugby League's (ARL) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Gordon Gibbons has been elected as a Director, effective from Monday 25 January 2016.
The position became vacant due to the election of Wayne Urquhart as Chairman in November 2015.
The term is for one year ending in November 2016.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to once again work with the Rugby League clubs in Auckland in my new role as a Director on the Board," says Gibbons.
"I have been involved in the game all my life and to be elected by the clubs to represent them at Board level is a great honour.
"I look forward to working with my fellow Board members, the Auckland Rugby League staff and of course the clubs in ensuring that the strong growth of the game continues."
Gibbons played Rugby League through the grades for Manukau, making his premier debut in 1975.
He served as both a Coach and Manager, and refereed for four years before taking the role of Operations Manager at Auckland Rugby League in 2006.
He also managed the Kiwis for 58 tests.
In 2014 he moved to take up his current role at the Vodafone Warriors as Corporate Sales Manager and was awarded the NZRL Distinguished Services Medal in 2015.
