Love songs and classical highlights by Mozart, Bizet, Puccini, Tchaikowsky, Lehar, Lloyd Webber and more
Sunday, 14 February, 5pm, Town Hall
Highlights include the famous 'Nessun Dorma', 'Core N'grato', excerpts from Carmen and The Land of Smiles, Waltz of the Flowers and Amigos para siempre.
Featuring two excellent soloists, Bach Musica NZ will be opening their 2016 concert season on Valentine’s Day with a compilation of the most famous music written about love.
Young rising Mezzo Soprano Kayla Collingwood is not only an outstanding vocalist but also an awarded composer, teacher and published author. She released her book ‘Reverie’ in 2012 comprised of her original poems.
After graduating from the McGill University in Montreal Canada with high distinction in voice, Canadian born Tenor Derek Hill made his debut with New Zealand Opera in their 2005 La Traviata production. He has since been a highly sought-after international freelance vocalist. Not only has he sung for the late king George Tupou V of Tonga at the royal palace but he also is the Freemasons Resident Artist for NZ Opera.
With Bach Musica NZ’s chorus and orchestra, conducted by Rita Paczian, this concert is the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
