Shave the date!

Thousands of freshly-shaven heads will appear across the country this autumn as Kiwis lose their locks for Shave for a Cure!

The hair-razing event will be held April 4th – April 10th 2016 to raise money to help the 10,000 New Zealanders living with a blood cancer or a related condition.

For the past 12 years Kiwis of all ages have pulled out the clippers, chopped off their locks and organised fundraising events.

Past participants include Sonny Bill Williams, Jay-Jay Harvey and most of the SKYCITY NZ Breakers basketball team.

Last year almost 2,000 brave Shavees mowed their mops and through the support of their friends, families, local businesses and schools managed to raise $1.4 million.

The 2016 fundraising target is $2 million. LBC receives no government funding and relies on Shave for a Cure to continue to supporting Kiwis and their families living with a blood cancer or related condition.

LBC’s services include patient support, funding for research, information and awareness programmes and advocating on behalf of patients.

“Shave for a Cure is such an exciting fundraiser for LBC and every year we are so blown away by the amount of selfless people who decide to Shave,” says Pru Etcheverry, Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand’s Chief Executive Office.

“Shave is such a special way to show solidarity and support to the many people who are affected by a blood cancer diagnosis.”

Farmers are supporting Shave for a Cure again in 2016 with Shaves at stores across the country. The list of stores participating will be released in the New Year. Shavees can register and establish individual fundraising pages at www.shaveforacure.co.nz
