Lou Barlow's killer opening acts announced.
Some of New Zealand’s finest indie songwriters will perform on Lou Barlow’s New Zealand tour next week.
Jeremy Eade (Garageland) will make a rare appearance, opening for the influential Dinosaur Jr & Sebadoh indie icon at Auckland’s Kings Arms (Sat Jan 23).
Sam Scott (Phoenix Foundation) will perform at Lou’s Wellington concert at San Fran (Sun Jan 24).
Mike McLeod (The Shifting Sands) opens for Lou’s two South Island shows; Churchills in Christchurch (Fri Jan 22) and Chicks Hotel in Dunedin (Thurs Jan 21).
Lou Barlow is one of America’s most influential
indie songwriters. As Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth so
succinctly describes: “Lou Barlow essentially invented
lo-fi”.

In solo mode, Barlow intimately weaves acoustic guitar, baritone ukulele, vintage synth and loops, presenting material from across his 30-year songbook, including tracks from acclaimed Brace The Wave, his new (third) solo album.
Single ‘Repeat’ is currently sitting in the Radio Active Top 10 and playlisted across the country.

“Barlow sang and played with a tenderness so
moving that it had an almost hypnotizing effect on the
audience…funny, melancholy and beautiful, the show Lou
Barlow brought us encapsulated all the seemingly
contradictory traits which have made him such a fascinating
and beloved figure in the world of indie music.” Terence
Cawley – Tastemakers.com – September 2015.
