Interactive Travelling Science Exhibition Opens at Motat

For the first time ever, the intriguing Science on the Move exhibition is travelling over from Australia to open at the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) in Auckland this Saturday, 12 December.

Created by Questacon, Australia’s National Science and Technology Centre, the interactive exhibition promises to engage visitors’ minds and bodies. Through a series of hands-on investigations they can discover the theories of light, music and sound, human biology, health and genetics. The principles of force and motion, ecology and the environment, electricity and magnetism are also explored.

MOTAT’s General Manager of Museum Experience, Malcom Anderson, explains the Museum’s strategic aim to collaborate with other experts in the field of science and technology for the benefit of visitors. “Questacon strives to promote greater understanding and awareness of science and technology within the community. They are also committed to making that experience fun, interactive and relevant. This is in complete alignment with MOTAT’s vision to engage and inspire the innovators of tomorrow,” he says.

For the next six months, MOTAT visitors will have the unique opportunity to personally experience this world-class, creatively hands-on science exhibition. Where else would you get the chance to turn yourself into a human battery, crank up a tornado in a bottle, escape from handcuffs, predict the outcome of chaos, build a food chain, measure your fitness and much, much more?

Science on the Move will be open at MOTAT from 10am – 5pm daily (apart from Christmas Day) from 12 December 2015 until 5 June 2016. Entry to the exhibition is included in the MOTAT General Admission fee.
