Mazda Foundation Hits New Heights

Mazda Foundation Hits New Heights

The Mazda Foundation has finished its third and final round of funding for 2015. This round saw more than $95,000 donated (their largest single funding round to date), to 28 individuals, groups and community organisations across the country.

In the latest funding round, recipients from the top of New Zealand to the bottom received grants, including a Northland individual with a disability and a Stewart Island community group.

18 year old Zoe Jennings from Northland received $17,240.80 from the Mazda Foundation to purchase a self-propelling wheelchair. In 2011 a viral illness attacked Zoe’s immune system and she was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, chronic fatigue, chronic pain and hyperventilation syndrome.

This round also included the gifting of $3,468.40 to Stewart Island Promotion Association. They will put it towards the cost of an artists’ residency, which will result in great exposure for the Island.

Five artists will visit Stewart Island for several days to explore and discover the area. They will be shown the natural wonders of the Island, along with its unique community, culture and heritage. On returning to their studios the artists will reflect on their experiences and create fine art prints to be exhibited throughout New Zealand.

Each year, the Mazda Foundation holds three funding rounds and selects people, community groups and charities that are in need of support.

Please find imagery attached and let me know if you are interested in an interview with the recipient or chairman of the Mazda Foundation, Andrew Clearwater, and I will be happy to arrange.
