The Stranglers to play three NZ shows
Plus1 is delighted to announce UK hellraisers The Stranglers will play three New Zealand concerts 13-15 April 2016 in celebration of their eclectic and inspiring 40-year rock ‘n roll journey.
Special guest opener for all shows is Australia’s Ed Kuepper, co-founder of punk legends The Saints and experimental post-punks Laughing Clowns.
Fans in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch can look forward to songs from across The Strangler’s extensive back catalogue with hits like Golden Brown, Peaches, No More Heroes and Skin Deep.
Plus material from such influential albums as Rattus Norvegicus, Black & White, The Raven and 2012’s acclaimed Giants.
Tour dates and ticketing outlets are:
Wednesday 13 April,
Powerstation, Auckland (Ticketmaster.co.nz). Proudly presented
by 95bFM
Thursday 14 April, Opera House, Wellington (Ticketek.co.nz)
Friday 15 April,
Horncastle Arena, Christchurch (Ticketek.co.nz)
Tickets for all three shows are on general sale from 9am Wednesday December 9.
Formed in 1974 in Guildford, England, The Stranglers have amassed 23 UK top 40 singles and 17 UK top 40 albums, over their lengthy career.
The Stranglers are now revered as one of the most exciting, credible and influential bands to have emerged from the British new wave scene.
The Stranglers’ New Zealand and Australian tours will be hot on the heels of their 18-date UK ‘Black & White’ tour with The Alarm in March 2016, and recent double-bills with Simple Minds.
“Few bands can have mastered so many types of music from the baroque pop of Golden Brown to the grinding noise of the perfect Curfew which, as part of Black and White, opened up the post punk door and then the noisnik scene of eighties, with its best bass sound ever and deconstruction of rock music into a new form.” LouderThanWar.com – 2015.

Other upcoming Plus1 NZ tours are Buzzcocks, The Proclaimers, Cat Power, Lou Barlow (Sebadoh / Dinosaur Jr) and Violent Femmes.
