NZ Web Fest a virtual reality
With over 40 Web Fests held around the world each year to celebrate, support and highlight web series and online video creators, New Zealand now has its own event, NZ Web Fest, to be held 7th November in Auckland.
“New Zealand is a leader in digital content,” says event organiser Fiona Powell. “New Zealand web series High Road is currently winning the Web Series World Cup and YouTube talent Jamie Curry (Jamie’s World) and Shaaanxo are followed by millions around the world.”
NZ Web Fest is a fun, inspiring and informative day event of screenings, speakers and celebrations.
The programme includes screenings of web series and YouTube channel awards finalists and web series world premieres.
Leading web series creators and YouTubers will inspire with their stories and inform on practical issues around marketing, growing audiences, distribution, creation, technology, funding, revenue options and budgeting.
NZ Web Fest will also include Award presentations to the Best NZ Web Series and Best YouTube channels.
“With 109 applications to the latest round of NZ On Air web series funding, there is no shortage of web series content wanting to be made here in New Zealand,” says Powell, founder of NZ Web Series Channel.
Speakers so far announced for the event include; Internet sensation Jamie Curry of Jamie’s World, webseries creators Roseanne Liang (Flat 3,Friday Night Bites), Peter Haynes (JF2: Primal Fury, AFK) and Roberto Nascimento (The Adventures of Suzy Boon).
“We’re delighted to create this event here in New Zealand to promote web series and online video to local audiences and to recognise and celebrate our local content creators,” says #NZWF15 co-organiser Keith Barclay.
