Elton’s party in Wellington just got bigger! Again!
Superstar Elton John to introduce Australian Singer/Songwriter
to New Zealand Audience.
Sir Elton John has a reputation of helping and mentoring a very broad range of young artist in the music industry over the years and is set to do exactly that in Wellington on November 21.
Announcing Tate Sheridan.
At 22, award-winning pianist/singer and composer Tate Sheridan has already established a fine reputation in the Australian jazz and pop community. Tate is a rising star who has gained quite a following in recent years. As a singer/songwriter, he has captured such an exciting and original blend of the jazz and pop idioms. He has been showcasing his original work, performing at the Merimbula, Moruya, and Capital Jazz Festivals as well as touring renowned Australian jazz clubs and theatres.
He has been a regular at the National Jazz at the Gods Concert Series and was selected to represent Australia in the 2013 and 2014 Canberra International Music Festivals as a distinguished Artist in Residence. In 2012 he was the recipient of the Merimbula JazzQuest Scholarship and a year later he was awarded the ANU Imad Nassir Medal for Most Outstanding Piano Performance.
In 2014 he was acknowledged as the ACT Canberra Critic’s Circle Artist of the Year for his dedication to both jazz and pop and his extremely high demand as a concert performer. Tate has recorded albums at Hihat Studios and ANU Studios with musicians from all of Australia. His debut jazz album 'Tate Sheridan' was released early this year and has just received a glowing 4-star review in The Australian. In 2014 his second pop single 'Further' was released through Triple J Unearthed and soared up the charts. Tate Sheridan is definitely a name to watch. Even at such a young age, he is playing and singing with a maturity and sensitivity well beyond his years.
Tate will join Sol3Mio opening for Elton in this his last ever Wellington appearance.
