Monday 28 September, 2015
Day 1 of the 2015 Netball NZ National Champs, in association with Lion Foundation, is underway at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington.
With 17 teams contesting the week-long tournament, the first two days of competition will decide the play-off series later in the week after some one-sided contests emerged in the pool stages.
With a solid sprinkling of Silver Ferns and ANZ Championship players in their midst, North Harbour, Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington set the early tone with two wins apiece on day one. The talent-laden Waitakere finished strongly after a slow start to nail their only outing of the day while Dunedin and Hamilton City loom as potential spoilers in the run to the semi-finals.
