Silver Ferns triallists announced
Wednesday 16 September, 2015
The lure of wearing the coveted black dress against the world champion Australian Diamonds will go on the line when 24 Silver Ferns hopefuls go head-to-head at the upcoming trials.
11 members of the silver medal-winning Netball World Cup team headline the list; with Maria Tutaia the only name missing, granted extended leave by Netball New Zealand following Netball World Cup, making her unavailable for selection.
Four players have ruled themselves out of the trials, including Liana Leota and Joline Henry who have both withdrawn from the 2015 Squad, Camilla Lees (pursuing her medical career in the UK) and Courtney Tairi who continues her recovery from a ruptured archilles suffered during Round One of the ANZ Championship.
Making her return to the Silver Ferns trials following the birth of her second child is experienced defender Anna Harrison. Harrison last represented the Silver Ferns at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The trials will take place in Auckland from Sunday 4 – Wednesday 7 October with the Silver Ferns team to be announced on the final day.
The 12 players selected will face the Australian Diamonds in the New World Netball Series for the Constellation Cup in October.
The four-Test Series will see the Silver Ferns host the first two matches at Horncastle Arena, Christchurch (October 20) and Vector Arena, Auckland (October 22), before they cross the Tasman for the final matches in Melbourne (October 25) and Perth (October 30).
