Rally of the North a fresh start for Cunningham
This weekend’s Tanoa Paihia Hotel Rally of the North will represent a fresh start for Clint Cunningham, with a restructured team in the search of improved reliability.
Cunningham has begun a new partnership with E & H Motors, who currently prepare engines for NZRC points leader Ben Hunt, in Pukekohe who will not only prepare engines for the team but provide on-event support.
With a tough season to date largely underlined by engine problems, Cunningham is excited by the prospect of a reliable RCK Contractors Mitsubishi Evo 8 Proto on one of his favourite events of the year.
With regular co-driver Glenn Goldring already committed, Cunningham will be joined by experienced co-driver Noel Moloney for the Paihia-based event.
“For us it is certainly an exciting time, unfortunately it’s been a really tough season when we’ve wanted to clock up plenty of miles as we adjust to the new car but I’m really confident that we can have a clean run this weekend and build up towards a strong result at the final NZRC round, Rally Wairarapa, in a few weeks,” says Cunningham.
Tanoa Paihia Hotel Rally of the North is based from the tourist town of Paihia, with cars leaving the Williams Street carpark from 7am. From there, crews will cover 180km of special stages as far north as Kaitaia before returning to Paihia and Williams St carpark from 4.20pm.
