Families on Both Sides of the Bridge Pack Out Pick & Mix
The 2015 Pick & Mix programme wrapped up over the weekend having attracted thousands of Auckland families to experience some of New Zealand’s finest artists performing for free. Now in its seventh year this annual winter programme has broken attendance records offering a unique blend of performance and interactive workshops.
Auckland Live, who this year extended the programme to include the Bruce Mason Centre on the North Shore are thrilled with the final numbers: over 11,000 enthusiastic mums, dads and kids turned up for the free weekend performances and workshops. This year the programme offered a mix of established favourites (The Royal New Zealand Ballet, Auckland Philharmonia Percussion Trio, Hip Hop Clown Justin Haiu, Comic Magician Jarred Fell, and Strike Percussion) and new offerings (NZ Opera, Play it Strange and Atamira Dance Company) providing a rich cultural experience for both committed Pick & Mix fans and newcomers alike.
Helaina Keeley, Manager of Programme Development at Auckland Live, is thrilled with this result which has seen an unbelievable 73% increase in attendance from the 2014 series!
“This year’s Pick & Mix Programme was a runaway success with hugely popular sessions from some of the brightest stars in the NZ arts and entertainment scene.”
Auckland Live is committed to delivering low cost and free events to young and old Aucklanders which engage and nurture communities, with upcoming events including Square Kids in September and October and the annual Summer in the Square event kicking off in December.
