Hundreds of Magicians to Appear in Wellington
The Wellington Magic Club is organizing the biggest magic convention New Zealand has ever seen. With eight world leading
magicians flying into Wellington to lecture at the event, the club is expecting around 150 professional and amateur
magicians (mainly from New Zealand) to attend the three-day conference during October’s Labour Weekend at the James Cook
Hotel.
“It is a fantastic opportunity for New Zealand magicians to learn from some of the best in the business” says the club’s
president, Nopera Whitley. “We have a phenomenal line-up” says Whitley “with performers coming from Australia, USA,
Canada as well as a world champion manipulator from South Korea”.
The international headliners will be lecturing at the convention, as well as judging the national magic championships,
also being held at the event. The public will also get a chance to see the headlining magicians perform at two shows at
the Wellington Opera House on the 24th of October.
The Wellington Magic Club is a not-for-profit community group whose aims are to encourage the pursuit of magic as a
performing art and to raise the profile of magic in Wellington. The convention takes place on the 24th, 25th & 26th of October and people can register at www.wellingtonmagic.co.nz.
