Whitireia School of Music Presents ‘Gone Done Country’
The Whitireia Music School has finally Gone Done Country! For the first time in 27 years of existence the school is doing a country gig.
Whitireia music students will perform country songs from artists such as Alan Jackson, Alison Krauss, The Dixie Chicks, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, Martina McBride and others. The show will be held over two nights, Thursday 17th and Friday 18th September, at Wellington’s Prefab.
“It’s a whole new experience for us,” say the students, most of whom are used to playing reggae, metal and dub. “We love the stories and the full sound of the country arrangements. It’s a real challenge because you play less, with a lot more musicians in your band, but when you get it right, it sounds awesome.”
Along with good home cooking – southern fried chicken, hot dogs, and popcorn – there will be some line dancing for all to partake in! This will be a night to remember at Wellington’s new premiere music venue.
We encourage people to dress for the occasion, to dig out the Daisy Dukes and cowboy boots for a real barn raisin’ shindig.
Tickets are available through www.dashtickets.com – Presales $10, door sales $15, children 14 and under $5. Doors open at 7:00pm.
