Retrospective: The Songs of Dave Mulcahy
Thursday 22 October, The Wintergarden, Civic Theatre
95bFM and JLP proudly announce the inaugural episode of the spasmodic season of Retrospective.
From the early Jean-Paul Sartre Experience days through to Superette, and now current monikers as Mulchzoid and Zilverside, David Mulcahy’s body of work spans an impressive thirty years. Dave’s rarely been seen in Auckland in recent years and this is a rare opportunity to see his body of work presented in one show.
This first outing of Retrospective gives Dave an open forum to curate and perform the work that has had such an impact over many years, and The Wintergarden at the Civic Theatre is a sumptious venue for an artist to be let loose in. Expect Dave to provide a complete audio and visual experience from the moment you arrive until you leave. Thursday 22 October will see The Wintergarden overrun for the debut of this new musical event, the first in an ongoing series giving New Zealand singer-songwriters a lavish yet intimate venue with top production resources to play with.
Over the last decade and a half, Dave has become one of NZ’s most prolific producers of music, though much may have escaped the attention of the mainstream press. Consistently intriguing, weird and wonderful, his signature sweet yet haunting vocals, and sublime twisting riffs will be in full evidence for this show. Each episode of this series will be streamed and filmed for podcast, with streaming details to follow.
Tickets are from Ticketmaster and are strictly limited. Tickets go on sale Tuesday 8th September.
