Cold Chisel Announce New Album & Two New Zealand Shows
For release – Friday, 28 August 2015: It's a huge day of announcements for Cold Chisel fans.
The iconic Australian rock band have revealed the title and release date of a brand new studio album and unveiled a handful of extra shows on their highly-anticipated One Night Stand tour, including shows in Auckland and Christchurch this December. The last time Cold Chisel were in NZ was 2011 when they played sold out shows at Vector Arena in Auckland and TSB Bank Arena in Wellington.
Cold Chisel's new album
will be called The Perfect Crime and
will hit stores on Friday, 2
Octobercoinciding with the first gig on their One
Night Stand tour. Featuring songs drawn from recording
sessions across 2014 and 2015, the album will be
kick-started by the single Lost, which will be
released to radio and TV today. Pre-orders for the album
will also be available at all music retailers
today.
Additionally, New Zealand will now be included on the band’s One Night Stand tour. The band's show at theHorncastle Arena, Christchurch on Friday, 4 December will mark the first time Cold Chisel have played New Zealand's South Island since their Last Stand tour in 1983. The band will then travel to Villa Maria Winery for a huge show on Sunday, 6 December.
“New Zealand has always been great to Cold Chisel and we can’t wait to play there on our One Night Stand tour,” said frontman Jimmy Barnes. “I can’t believe it’s 30 years since we last played Christchurch. That’s way too long! And then a huge Auckland show… Bring it on!”
Support act for both NZ shows is the legendary Supergroove!
Supergroove is one of New Zealand's best-loved live bands. The impressive eight piece ensemble always bring the party. With a catalogue of some of the most iconic kiwi hits including Can't Get Enough, You've Got To Know To Understand and Sittin' Inside My Head, Supergroove are sure to get the crowd warmed up ahead of Cold Chisel in Christchurch and Auckland.
Opening the evening in Auckland is The Bads. Brett Adams and Dianne Swan have released three albums as The Bads and have toured the globe extensively performing their special blend of folk-country music. They've opened for the likes of Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris and also collaborated and performed with Cold Chisel's Don Walker in a series of gigs in recent years.
2015 is shaping up to be one the biggest and best in Cold Chisel's unparalleled four-decade career. "The Perfect Crime is probably the most rock & roll album that we’ve ever done," says Cold Chisel's primary songwriter Don Walker. "Now we can't wait to get out and play some of these songs on the One Night Stand tour."
