SIX60 New Year's Eve at Cathedral Square
THURSDAY 27 AUGUST, 2015 – Canterbury SIX60 fans are in for an unforgettable New Year’s Eve, with the announcement that the band will play a special outdoor show at Cathedral Square on 31 December.
A full night of live music is planned with gates opening early and the show starting with sets from Weird Together and Diaz Grimm and Nick D and other support acts to be announced. Later in the evening SIX60 will take the stage play in the new year in an extended set featuring the band’s old hits and songs from their second album, which is shortly to celebrate six months in the charts.
The album release was supported by a tour in May and June that attracted over 30,000 fans, including a sold-out concert at Horncastle Arena. SIX60 keyboard player Marlon Gerbes is looking forward to returning to Christchurch to see in 2016 at Cathedral Square.
“We’re heading to LA in a couple of weeks to work on releasing the album across America, then worldwide with Capitol Records. That’s really exciting for us, but it’s good to know we’ll be back in New Zealand to have Christmas with our families and catch up with our fans for a few shows. Playing Cathedral Square on New Year’s Eve is going to be amazing for us and we’re planning a few things to make sure there’s a really festive vibe.”
This is the second concert SIX60 has announced for the coming summer, with tickets to their January 16 concert at Auckland’s Villa Maria Winery already selling fast since going on sale two weeks ago.
